Fritz Hockenjos Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

At the site of the former Bad Boll, a curved wooden footbridge leads across the Wutach. There are some interesting information boards on the south side.

Due to a huge landslide on the south bank of the Wutach the Schluchtensteig is led over an official detour along the north bank.

The view of the landslide and the slipped mountainside is quite dramatic and impressive.

The widest bridge in the gorge - almost directly below the bridge is a nice place to rest.

On your way through the Wutachschlucht you will pass numerous waterfalls. The water cuts its way through rock crevices and splashing over shell limestone walls and mossy edges.

We were lucky to see this small waterfall. Because it had just rained a week after we were here.

Hiking through the Lothebachklamm & Wutachschlucht.

Beautiful hike on natural paths.
Mostly near the river Wutach.
The gorge is only accessible on foot.
Surefootedness and good shoes are recommended.

What do we do today? Was the question and we agreed to drive to the Schattenmühle and walk the Lotenbachklamm. Since the parking lot there was full, the way led us to Boll, where we found a free parking space and stopped for lunch at the Gasthaus zur Wutachschlucht. That was the perfect time to plan and then carry out …

We are actually here to visit relatives - until yesterday I didn't even know about the Wutach Gorge - and that, since it is one of the most visited hiking trails in all of Baden-Württemberg.

Today we had really warm temperatures - around 20 degrees. Together with this backdrop, fantastically beautiful conditions.
On the way we met many insects 🐞🐜🦟 …

August 10, 2025,Bonndorf Wanderweg 5
To round off our Black Forest vacation, we decided to take the Bonndorf hiking trail 5.

What we didn't know was that it touches the Wutach Gorge and runs through the Lotenbach Gorge. At least that gives us a little recap of the last few trails. 😂

Today's round was really great.
The first 4 km are on asphalt, which didn't bother me in any way because you can always enjoy great views.
Except for a shorter piece on gravel, the rest of the round runs on beautiful paths and paths.
What really impressed me today was the heavy scree avalanche.
Unbelievable what masses of rubble came …
