Did a nice winter hike in the Ranis-Pößneck area today. Wowww how nice to hike in the snow ❄️🌤🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️❄️👍🏻
We started at the parking lot below Ranis Castle. We went to the Zechenstein reef near Pößneck in very nice winter weather. After a good view from the Zechenstein, we went in the direction of Brandenstein to the Brandenstein Castle.

Unfortunately, everything was locked at the castle...we were definitely just too early....🤭 (11:00)....so we continued straight away....there were still a few kilometers left.
It went on like this …

This hike was worth it: -great hiking weather, -growth of knowledge through geological and historical highlights, -and last but not least coffee and cake in Ranis, a culinary highlight (for imitators: note the opening times of "Kaffe Ilse")

Started at fresh -2°C, we went from here past the Teufelszahn 😈🦷 over the Brandensteiner Berg to schloss-brandenstein.de. A café in the Burgkeller invites you to linger and a small shop for old and new as well as homemade …

A very nice and varied tour to great rock formations (Zechstein reefs and caves), which I would not have expected here. Sure-footedness is sometimes required😉 .. especially on the Haselberg where the path got lost under the leaves and I was …

What drives you to Thuringia at the weekend, really Saturday to the regional fair Saale-Orla Schau in Pößneck, short flying visit. And then get out if you're in the region at the weekend. Pößneck ???, the largest small town in the Saale Orla district reminds me a bit of my local LO. With a bit of a dirty image, not …
