Some slopes are very very steep, and the ground can be slippery. This is a very beautiful place with magnificent landscapes.

Walking shoes with good grip are recommended, sneakers will not get you there. Many areas with loose gravel where you can easily slide. Some tough climbs/descendants.

December 2, 2025,🇪🇸🇮🇨🔄 GC Caldera de Bandama 🌋🌤️🤩
…thanks again to @Martina and @Georg55 for this tip 😃.

Even the drive to the starting point was a lot of fun, because Vega de San Mateo and Santa Brígida are along the route, and both towns 🏡🤩 are very beautiful. The surrounding area is green and colorful... and very nicely built.

And the roads: spotless 🥳

A very impressive ridge walk. You should just choose a different starting point if you are arriving by car, as there is no direct parking available. However, there is parking available at the crater itself.

The hike around the Bandama volcanic crater offers fantastic views from Las Palmas' seaport all the way to the airport. The crater itself is less appealing because it's windless and has sparse vegetation. However, the 240-meter descent is definitely worthwhile for those with more geological knowledge than myself. I can recommend the charming little restaurant Tasca la Caldera on the …

What you should know: 1. The hike takes place exclusively in the sun (when it shines) 2. The path is very slippery (like loose gravel on solid ground). That's why I recommend hiking poles, otherwise you'll end up on your butt. 3. Going clockwise may be a bit easier as it's the way you walk up the steeper, slippery parts.

We made a quick trip around the crater of the volcano, as it was unfortunately very overcast today. So we saved ourselves the trip down into the crater and took the bus to La Palma.

November 15, 2022,Bandama Krater
Finally good weather in the area and we were able to circumnavigate the Bandama Crater for the first time. Partly a bit slippery due to scree but otherwise easy to walk with incredibly beautiful views. A must! Next time we'll go into the crater.

A tightrope walk around a crater with good views.

Short, crisp, and absolutely worth seeing. While the tour isn't long and has relatively little elevation gain, it's still a bit challenging. Some sections involve steep descents and climbs on loose ground—it's tough on the legs 😄

But the fantastic views of the volcanic crater and the coast more than make up for it. Top tour!
