Walking shoes with good grip are recommended, sneakers will not get you there. Many areas with loose gravel where you can easily slide. Some tough climbs/descendants.

The Bandama Natural Park (Spanish: Monumento Natural de Bandama) is a protected landscape area in the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria, in the Spanish province of Las Palmas. It consists of two clearly defined units: the mountain peak Pico de Bandama and the Caldera de Bandama.

      Origin of name:
The name Bandama is not of Spanish origin. It is derived from the Flemish trader Daniel Van Damme, who ran a very successful winery in the Caldera in the 16th century. This man's will is the first written documentation of viticulture in this area of the island. The wine presses, which are still partially preserved today, and the associated fermentation tanks (lagares), in which the grapes were mashed, are among the oldest of their kind in Gran Canaria.

I would definitely recommend not only sturdy shoes, but good hiking boots and not city shoes, and if you have walking poles, I recommend them. Otherwise, you should be sure-footed, have a head for heights and maybe even be more experienced. I would advise beginners against it, and I wouldn't recommend the tour in windy and bad weather.
