Our hike around the Saffenburg started on a frosty February Sunday morning. The cold tingled on our skin, while our breath rose in small clouds in the clear air before us. But after the first few steps through the wintry landscape, the movement warmed us, and the anticipation of what awaited us grew with every meter of altitude.
