Beautiful nature guaranteed. The forest is not managed, but left to nature. Please stay on the paths so as not to disturb nature and animals.

Chalk Cliffs of Jasmund National Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

The famous chalk cliffs on Rügen stretch for 15 kilometers on the Jasmund peninsula – from Sassnitz to the municipality of Glowe.
The sight alone is magnificent, after all, you don't see such imposing white cliffs, towering 120 meters high, every day. But the story of their formation also causes astonishment and admiration: the cliffs were formed more than 50 million years ago from calcareous, fossil-like remains of various small animals, which had been deposited in the sea and had solidified over time into a rock.
Together with sand, clay, and other rocks, the chalk cliffs we know today were formed.

Wissower Klinken Chalk Cliffs

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Wissower Klinken are impressive chalk cliffs on the coast of Rügen, once among the island's most famous natural wonders. Unfortunately, they partially collapsed in 2005 due to a major erosion, but the area around Jasmund National Park still offers stunning views of the coast and the sea.

Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Ernst Moritz Arndt Viewpoint is an impressive vantage point in Jasmund National Park on Rügen. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the striking chalk cliffs and the Baltic Sea. The vantage point was named after the Rügen-born historian and writer Ernst Moritz Arndt.

Chalk Cliffs of Jasmund National Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

The chalk coast stretches from the outskirts of Wedding in Sassnitz to Lohme. The highlight shown here is just behind the entrance to the national park and gives you a first view of the chalk coast: the Gakower Ufer and the Wissower Ufer. Not far from here, at the Piratenschlucht, you can take a staircase to the Hochuferweg. If you want to continue walking down the coast, you should note that the next ascent is only possible at the Kieler Bach.
Along the chalk coast you can often find fossils such as sea urchins, thunderstones, petrified corals and mussels. However, extreme caution is advised, particularly in winter or during storms and heavy rain.

Took the opportunity to admire the huge chalk cliffs on Rügen in real life. A stony, sunny path there changed to a shady, airy forest path back. It was just lovely to see the sea for once 🤗

In the summer, Rügen is old hat for us, but in the cold and snow it was a whole new bobble hat.

Dramatic paintings in the sky, icy wind and crunching snow conveyed a much wilder experience of the hike on the narrow strip between the surf and the chalk wall from Sassnitz to the fallen Wissower Klinken.

From the Sassnitz beach promenade, where there is simply no parking space for bicycles, walk along the coast below the chalk cliffs and back one floor up on the Höhenweg.
At the end of the beach promenade, keep right along the shore.
The path along the chalk cliffs consists almost entirely of loose pebbles and boulders. From time to time …

A small but nice tour with the focus on beautiful stones 🪨 ("chicken gods") to look for and to find many. The backpack 🎒 😂 was correspondingly heavy
Characterized by the beautiful chalk cliffs, it went along the very stony coast. The soothing sound of the sea in your ears is constantly overwhelmed by the bizarre nature. And again and …

We started today in the city port of Sassnitz, past the still closed pier, Ulrich Müther's spa shell, always along the path along the chalk coast by the water. Here we had wonderful views of the imposing chalk cliffs and again and again we encountered natural works of art in the form of stone landscapes and old, fallen trees or …

Hike along the chalk cliffs of Sassnitz and back, searching, collecting and finding flotsam and jetsam. We were out for a total of 7 hours. Collecting flotsam and jetsam took a little longer. Our island of Rügen is always beautiful for hikes. ☺️🌞

On the Sunday of the Dead, we went on this hike to the chalk cliffs near Sassnitz to remember 🥰 my parents, grandma, grandpas, great-grandmas, great-grandpas 🌸 🌻🌹, where my mother was also buried at sea 🎗️.
