Very nice bike path to get among others from farm to Schwarzenbach an der Saale and back, surrounded by nature. It is usually good for two to drive next to each other, so that you can talk comfortably.

July 11, 2024,🚲 Saale 1/7: Quelle->Hof
The DB took me from W to Münchberg in 7 hours (after tight/stressful changes due to delays).
From there I took the shortest route (10 km) to the starting point of my journey:

the source of the Saale.

The plan is to follow the Saale on the Saale cycle path to where it flows into the Elbe, and then to …

Today I completed the first leg of the Saale Cycle Route.

I first took the train from Hof to Münchberg.
From there, it was a short climb to the source of the Saale.
From there, it was a steady downhill ride through beautiful countryside, occasionally following the Saale.
After just 20km, the stream had become a small river.
The last …

Today we set off on a Saale bike tour with 6 of our firefighters. We took the DB via Nuremberg to Münchberg. Everything went smoothly, a friendly train attendant even helped us unload the bikes. From Münchberg we went steadily uphill to the Saale source. The effort was worth it, we found a beautiful spring and some information about the …

First stage completed. From Münchberg it is almost entirely uphill to the source of the Saale. In the direction of Hof you cross the Saale several times, which grows from a trickle to a stream and then to a small river. The cycle path is mostly very good, mixed with gravel sections and short sections on the country road.

The second stage begins in Zell. The Saale Cycle Path is passable, but the quality of the paths is very varied. We also found the signage here to be somewhat inadequate. However, with our maps and GPS, we made good progress.

The Saale is still a very small stream here.
