This tour is from the komoot collection "RevierRouten im radrevier.ruhr"; I only chose a different starting point.
A very nice tour that's perfect for cycling. Side trips to the RheinRuhrZentrum and the GrugaPark are possible.
And of course, no tour would be complete without ice cream at Plükthun in Kupferdreh 😋.

A very beautiful and also challenging tour: it included sections of the Rhine Castle Trail, the Springs Trail, and the Heavenly Ladder. What looks like a quarry is indeed one, although lava was extracted here from an extinct cinder cone volcano.

Despite the rainy weather, Zora and I set off running and are now a little proud of our almost 15km.

The day starts with a few scenic kilometers along the river. Between Arnstein Monastery and Nassau, the route climbs a steep hill, and I'm once again glad to have my electric bike. Nassau somehow doesn't interest me, so I continue on to Bad Ems:
a sophisticated spa town, superbly maintained, and today

Since I already knew Weilburg (worth it!), I continued on. There are about 25 km of beautiful stretches along the towpath with a view of the river. The path is very narrow in places, making it difficult to negotiate oncoming traffic. I don't mind that today, as I'm the only one on the bike path.

One last look at Marburg's old town, and shortly after, you're in a whole lot of countryside.
Fields, meadows, and fruit trees, along with a few small villages, accompany you for the first 30km or so to Gießen. If you don't leave the bike path, you'll pass Gießen right away.
In some sections, you now cycle

A pleasant and varied Sunday hike through the Süchteln hills with a bit of up and down (even the Lower Rhine has that!), beautiful forest paths, a few trails, and dogs are allowed off-leash. The small Irmgadis Chapel, the Bismarck Tower, and the old flood control reservoir are worth seeing. Highly recommended!
