June 19, 2025,Unterer Bodefall – Wurmberg Runde von Villenviertel
A beautiful hiking trail, but sometimes with longer sections on paved roads. It's better to allow 5 hours.
The view of Brocken is okay—you can see nothing but dead forests for miles.
Okay, Brocken is just a flat tourist center.
Braunlage itself, unfortunately, has also seen its best days and isn't exactly ideal for a stroll—a shame.

Great climb along the Bode. When the sun was shining ☀️ the snow ❄️ didn't bother us either. The descent over the metal steps at the old ski jump was very adventurously slippery 😊🍀

The two collage photos are from the stop in Torfhaus. The Bavaria Alm is very good, and the new tower with a slide and skywalk is amazing.
The slide takes you back down in 13 seconds. 👌

Since today's stage on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg is only around 10 km, we decided to take a detour to Wurmberg this morning due to the fantastic weather. From Wurmberg, the west once spied on the east, and the east spied on the west from the neighboring Brocken. Fortunately, no one spies there anymore and the paths are freely accessible to everyone.

Started from the Relaxa Hotel Braunlage. We used the time window between rain and thunderstorms and made the lap over the 972 m high Wurmberg. First along the Große Bode on a narrow Waldofad, past the Bodener waterfalls, great path, then the terrain opens up and you go on a wider forest path towards Wurmberg. The last steep km's on …

Traditionally, our visits to Braunlage first "quickly" take the beautiful path along the Bode up to the Wurmberg. But this time (Dec. 21) it was relatively fast, the paths are currently heavily iced up so that a little more time can be planned. Trekking poles and, if available, even spikes are helpful here.

The Wurmberg, formerly called Wormberch, Wormsberg or Wormberg, in the Goslar district is, at 971.2 m above sea level, the second highest mountain in the Harz Mountains and the highest mountain in Lower Saxony.
This tour went along the Bode and you can collect 2 HWN stamps.
