Amberg's "Stadtbrille"

Highlight • Bridge

Always a beautiful sight and highlight of every city tour. The two arches are reflected in the water of the Vils and thus result in the well-known "Amberger Stadtbrille".

A beautiful tour, always along the river. There's a lot of terrain here! ☺️
We did the tour on a Monday, so many restaurants and beer gardens were closed. 😪
The road surface was very good. Some sections had fine white gravel, and a large part was even paved.

The first 25 km were beautiful on a former railway line along the river Vils.
At some point we changed to the Naabtal and then came across the Danube in Regensburg....

...and Komoot was wrong again....
It was always "eba ahne" with just 200 meters of elevation.....🤷‍♀️

guided tour by Günter Lutz mobile travel advice. Very nice bike paths. You have to look for places to stop. According to the internet, many are open but actually closed. Amberg is very beautiful. The Hotel Fronfest in Amberg has a very special ambience. In 2007 the prison was converted into a hotel - see photos.

Today we did Stage 2 from Amberg to Regensburg. We liked this route better. It first runs along the Vils River, then along the Naab River until you reach the Danube. Even though it rained at the beginning, it was a very nice, quiet route. It was a lot of fun. Regensburg is also a very pretty city.

This tour was part of the Five Rivers Tour 2025. Bernd, Thomas, Norbert, and Thorsten participated. Unfortunately, our previous tour guide, Willie, was unable to participate due to health reasons. This section of the tour was a two-day journey from Amberg to Regensburg.
