Together with the church of St. Martin, the Hillesheim city wall is the city's landmark and is also immortalized in the city's coat of arms. The venerable walls date back to the 13th century and have been partially destroyed, rebuilt and renovated several times, most recently as part of the city center renovation. Remains of the stately wall can still be found everywhere in the city center. The walkable battlement in the southwest allows a beautiful view of the town, the central sports complex, the Bolsdorfer Tälchen recreation area down to the Kyll valley.

The imposing, old city wall of the medieval town of Hillesheim dates back to the 13th century and was very well renovated in the course of the city center renovation. The fortification was destroyed for the first time by the French in 1689 and then by the English army in 1705. So it took a few centuries until today's city wall with a few towers was repaired from the few remnants of the city wall. You can walk along the battlement and have a wonderful view over the Kylltal and the landscape.

Every community had its Schellemann, who called out important public announcements with the bell (bell). The last Schellemann in Berndorf was Thelen Mattes. He was called "Schelle-Mattes" by all residents. He was an original with his notices. If the bell went off, someone appeared at every front door to hear what was new. The Schellemann figure was created by the priest and sculptor Don Luciano Carnessali around 1990. His brother Bruno lived in Üxheim for a long time and donated this figure to the community.

Hillesheim crime village with the crime cafe and Kiminalhotel is a must-see. The still surprisingly well-preserved city wall with park is really beautiful and fresh beer in the small pub on the flea market square
