Crespi is the extraordinary story of a true ideal city of work, a small fiefdom where the master's castle was a symbol of both authority and benevolence towards workers and their families. Crespi was born in the midst of the industrial revolution, and is the response of the enlightened entrepreneurs of the late nineteenth century to the tragedies caused by the first, violent industrialization. Crespi is a garden city, on the border between the peasant world and the industrial world.

Historic cemetery of the very suggestive workers' village, certainly worth a visit

Crespi d'Adda was an "Ideal Work Village" created by the industrial Crespi family in the late nineteenth century along the Adda for the workers of their textile factory. It offered employees homes, services and protection “from the cradle to the grave.” Only those who worked in the factory could live there. UNESCO has recognized it as a World Heritage Site for being an exceptional and well-preserved example of a Southern European workers' village.
