Fra Tommaso da Olera (1563–1631) was an Italian Capuchin friar, beatified by Pope Francis in 2013. Born in the small village of Olera, in the province of Bergamo, he lived a humble childhood, working as a farmer and shepherd. Although he was illiterate until he entered the convent, he became an influential preacher and spiritual advisor to important political figures, including Emperor Ferdinand II. During his life, Fra Tommaso devoted himself to begging, collecting offerings for the poor and offering spiritual comfort. He also promoted the religious vocation of women, contributing to the foundation of monasteries. His fame spread beyond the Italian borders, bringing him to Innsbruck, where he became the spiritual guide of Archduke Leopold V. Today, the village of Olera celebrates his memory with religious events and a liturgical feast on May 4.
