In view of the small Marian shrine in the form of the Madonna that the hiker encounters here, I would like to share with the viewer a brief thought—in fact, it is even a blessing—from Saint Padre Pio (Pio da Pietrelcina, 1887–1968): "May the Mother of Jesus and our Mother always smile upon your spirit and receive every heavenly blessing from her most holy Son."

A well-maintained trail begins where the bike path down from Clusone ends. A chain has also been installed to help with the final stretch. The rest of the trail is just a bit steep.

History and Architecture The construction of the sanctuary began shortly after the miracle and was completed in 1520. Initially, the building was a small country oratory dedicated to the Visitation of Mary. Over the centuries, the sanctuary has undergone numerous expansions and modifications to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims. In 1628 the bell tower was built, and in 1725 the tower was rebuilt. The church has been enriched with works of art of great value, including frescoes, sculptures and paintings. Works of Art Among the most significant works are: The polyptych above the high altar, made by Gerolamo da Santa Croce in 1524. The altarpiece on the right, by Antonio Cifrondi, dating back to around 1720. Two adoring angels in white Carrara marble, sculpted by Grazioso Fantoni in 1760. Four frescoes on the central nave, made by Giovanni Brighenti around 1830. Devotion and Traditions The sanctuary is an important center of Marian devotion. In 1914, the devotional statue of the Madonna was crowned with a golden crown adorned with gems and precious stones, an event that attracted numerous faithful. The original statue is now preserved in the church of San Rocco. Location and Accessibility The sanctuary is located in a panoramic position that offers a breathtaking view of the Val del Riso. It is easily accessible and is an ideal destination for pilgrims and visitors seeking spirituality and natural beauty.
