The Baita ai Fortini di Napoleone is an ancient farmhouse located on the outskirts of Molveno which owes its name to the neighboring military fortifications built by the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the beginning of the eighteenth century to stop Napoleon's advance.

Although the fortifications were erected by the Austrian army to repel the French army in the early 1800s, the forts are called "Napoleon". Evidently any other Austrian antagonist has been overshadowed by the high-sounding name of the great leader.

The small detour is rewarded with a great view towards Molveno and also to the other end of the lake. You have to search for the small steep path. For those interested in history there is also some information about the origin of the lake and its earlier use.
