The canal was built for the irrigation of the fields. Initially the "Fara canal" was renamed the "Vailata canal" in 1474, following requests from the Vailate area. You are walking on a history that is still visible, and it is also an area of great naturalistic value.

Historic cemetery of the very suggestive workers' village, certainly worth a visit

Crespi d'Adda was an "Ideal Work Village" created by the industrial Crespi family in the late nineteenth century along the Adda for the workers of their textile factory. It offered employees homes, services and protection “from the cradle to the grave.” Only those who worked in the factory could live there. UNESCO has recognized it as a World Heritage Site for being an exceptional and well-preserved example of a Southern European workers' village.
