Path from Castel Cerreto to Pontirolo. Very useful to avoid the provincial road. Easy to walk.

The Counts Piazzoni, owners of the Castel Cerreto and Battaglie farm, built in 1858 in memory of the apparitions of Lourdes, the grotto of the Madonna del Bosco, not far from the main house. The cave was built by the laborers and peasants of Castel Cerreto in the cerri wood between the two canals, the Brembilla canal to the north and the Sopra canal to the south, using the stones of the Brembo

The entrance seems to promise little, but the interior will amaze you Legend has it that this splendid palace was the castle of the Unnamed described by Manzoni in "The Betrothed". The heart of the building: Palazzo Vecchio dates back to the end of the sixteenth century and was built on pre-existing fortifications. Recently restored, it houses the municipal headquarters on the ground floor. The main floor offers numerous frescoed rooms, which make it one of the most successful pages of Lombard Baroque. In the reception rooms you can observe frescoes dedicated to dynastic glories, in particular in the so-called throne room, dated 1675, in which the most illustrious members of the Visconti family stand out on high pedestals in the form of painted monochrome statues.
