The Elbe cycle path leads along here with a few meters of altitude. It is unpaved and very winding, so you might have to push it at times.

Located directly on the banks and slopes of the Elbe, historic half-timbered houses are lined up on Elbstraße. With the many lovingly renovated houses, the old town of Lauenburg is the largest ensemble of monuments in all of Schleswig-Holstein. History comes to life on a walk along the old cobblestone streets of the shipping town. Numerous small alleys and stairs connect the old town with the upper town. Nice view of the Elbe 🤩👍🏼 Relatively narrow for oncoming traffic, but doable.

The Elbe Cycle Path is an absolute highlight with its well-developed paths and its restoration along the route.

A fantastic view of Lauenburg.

From the Lauenburg Elbe Bridge you have a beautiful view of the Elbe, Artlenburg and the Lauenburg skyline. A wonderful photo opportunity - especially in the evening or at night when the lights of the city are reflected in the Elbe.

The Hermann Billung hiking trail and the Jakobsweg also lead here over the Lauenburg Elbe bridge. It is very worthwhile to take a relaxed hike here and enjoy the great views, especially of Lauenburg's old town.
