According to legend, Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus (also Gaius Marcius Coriolanus or Coriolanus for short; * before 527 BC in Rome; † around 488 BC in Antium) was a Roman hero and general whose pride, stupidity and stubbornness led to arguments with the plebeians. He was banished from Rome and then waged a war against his own hometown, which he only broke off at his mother's request. With his tragedy Coriolanus, Shakespeare provided the best-known adaptation of the legend. In 1807 Ludwig van Beethoven composed his Coriolan Overture. (Wikipedia) Wilhelm Georg Johannes Wandschneider (born June 6, 1866 in Plau am See; † September 23, 1942 there) was a German sculptor and medalist. The artist's life and work have been documented in the Prof. Wandschneider Sculpture Museum in Plau since 1994. (Wikipedia)
