Not far from Matzlow-Garwitz, just about 5 km away by bike, lies this gem, which is maintained and preserved for the public, primarily by volunteers. Today we were fortunate enough to speak in person with two members of the Pingel family. A variety of events take place regularly.

The Elde River, with its source in 17209 Finken (near the AB 19), is a refuge for anyone who enjoys being with and on the water and can, for example, start from here all the way to Lake Schwerin.

From here, you can admire the Friedrichsmoor and Neuhöfer carp ponds. If you're lucky, you might even spot a bird of prey or two hunting. There are seating areas for a break. It's right next to the road.

Beautiful all-round view over the canal and ponds

From the observation tower you have a wonderful view of the Lewitz with its ponds, moors, canals, meadows and forests. Photographers with telephoto lenses get their money's worth here. You can skate here. But you don't have to. The landscape is beautiful, but the asphalt is terrible. It's better to get here on foot than hiker or by bike. This way you can enjoy the landscape much better than constantly being careful not to fall.
