Beautiful town on the lake of the same name with many well-preserved half-timbered and brick houses as well as numerous sights. For example, the historic lifting bridge, the chicken ladder, the castle tower with museum, the beautiful city forest and the city harbor with observation tower.

The climatic health resort of Plau am See, located directly on the Müritz-Elde waterway, enchants with its old town with flair and cultivated hospitality.
Plau am See is characterized by its proximity to the water and its medieval town center. Small streets with lovingly and elaborately renovated half-timbered houses tell the attentive observer their long history. It's a good walk along the Elde on the promenade from the ship lock with the "chicken ladder" past the lifting bridge to the observation tower at the transition to Lake Plauer. The castle tower with ramparts, the Protestant town church "St. Marien" from the 13th century and the Plauer town hall in the style of the Dutch Renaissance are outstanding contemporary witnesses. In Plau am See there is also the only functionally preserved ensemble of a farmer's house in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
