Beautiful, playful cathedral. You can climb all the way to the top.

It's a World Heritage Site for a reason.

Unfortunately, we didn't go inside; it was closed.

For the cathedral and museum you should take at least one hour. The entry includes a brochure in various languages, German is also available.

Burial place of Frederik IX and his wife, Queen Ingrid. Frederik 9. never liked the idea of his sarcophagus standing next to the others in the cathedral church. As a seaman, he wanted rain to fall on his grave. His daughter, Queen Margrethe and his wife, Queen Ingrid, took the initiative for a royal burial place outside the cathedral church after the king's death in 1972. The octagonal burial site offers a total of ten graves and is bordered by 4,000 red bricks that the royal ship "Dannebrog" brought from the Faroe Islands in 1984. The tombstone for Frederik IX, which weighs tons, is made of granite and comes from Greenland. The sculptor Erik Heide has attached a cross shaped like an anchor next to the inscription. In 1985 Frederik IX was reburied from the cathedral church in the new burial place outside the door. In November 2000 Queen Ingrid was buried in the same burial chamber.
