The pilgrimage station, which bears the motto "Encounter", adorns a sculpture by sculptor Andreas Ohmayer and is naturally backlit by an alabaster plate on the back when the sun shines from the south on the shrine.
The newly erected shrine is part of the pilgrimage pathway that leads from the Loretto Chapels (813m) over the Holzgauer Platz (824m), the chapel Maria am Knie (1377m) to the Mädelejoch. The path continues on the Roßgumpenalp to Holzgau in the Tyrolean Lech Valley.

Here is the border with Austria and the paths cross on the way to the Lech Valley and the paths to the Mädelesgabel and the mountain peaks to the east.

The easiest way from the Kemptener Hütte to Holzgau in the Lechtal is over this pass. Thus, it is the highest point on such a tour, if you don't build in a dangling.
