From the late Middle Ages, the division of the large settlement community of Lu
(also to der Lu and bi der Lu) into four quarters is recorded. There were three church quarters
(Im Kerckverndeil): Steinkirchen, Mittelnkirchen, and Neuenkirchen, as well as a quarter without a church, the Guderhandviertel. The origin of the name remains unclear.
Here are two theories:
The Guderhandviertel lies – viewed from Steinkirchen – on the right hand side
or the settlement – without a church or pastor – is entrusted to the good hand of God.
