Shortly after the village "OHNE" one drives approximately parallel to the Vechte, the right hand flows. Soon we will see the "So da!" Bridge. The bridge is just there because it has no connection to anything at all. :-))
It was once bought in Tyrol, transported to Schüttorf and was to be set up there. As a work of art!
The Schüttorfer they did not want and so she was transported to Without and placed in a meadow near the Vechte. A breathtaking sculpture !!!
The tour continues on the Landersumer hills, from which one has a wonderful view over the Münsterland, the county and the nearby Emsland.
This is a nice tour through the southern Emsland direction Dortmund-Ems-Kanal and the lock in Venhaus, which exists since 1898. Of course much smaller then.
The cafe / restaurant right next to the lock offers a nice menu and invites you for coffee and cake. Great for a Sunday trip. Interesting to watch the ships at the floodgates.
The tour leads from Schüttorf along the pike along meadows and fields. After Suddendorf you come to the so-called Brechte. A forest and meadow landscape with predominantly pine trees. In Oster, just before Ochtrup is the well-known excursion restaurant "Happens Hof". A nice destination for a little Sunday bike ride.
Although the tour leads along county roads, but are moderately busy. Well-developed bike paths are available. It rolls very pleasant.
The charming rural landscape, the vastness, and every now and then a grove on the roadside let you breathe deeply and enjoy the beautiful Obergrafschaft with its agriculture.
The bike tour leads from Schüttorf over the Langenfoort way (Alter Postweg) to Quendorf. About Neerlage, Hesepe and Hestrup to Nordhorn. In Brandlecht you can directly to the Vechte, which is very nice. However, the path is rather rustic and not suitable for touring bikes. Here is better the way through Hesepe. The drive along the Vechtesee and the entrance to the Nordhorn town center is very great. Here you actually experience Nordhorn as a water city. At Huesmann in the shopping street you can reward yourself with various specialties and a tapped Löwenbräu. Have fun!
