Mayor Merkl wanted to build a chapel here around 1682, but the electoral government in Amberg declined on 4 September 1682 from the building application. The chapel was built anyway and in 1690 or 1691 inaugurated by Dechant Georg Haunold in honor of the godfather "ad honorem Sancti Salvatoris". Decaying over the centuries, it was rebuilt as a little church and in 1806 the solemn inauguration took place. The Auerbach chronicler Johannes Neubig notes in 1839: "The church on the god father mountains, formerly a chapel, was built in 1806 and inaugurated by Dechant Neumüller. The main festival with indulgence on St. Trinity Sunday. "
