Located in an old glacial cirque, this lake takes its name from the summit that overlooks it, the Tête des Perches. Walking on its heights is a real treat because of the views it offers, with the Doller valley in the background. Three variants of the GR5 cross it, making it a must on hiking trails in the Vosges.

The name supposedly comes from a boy who fell into the lake and drowned while trying to catch a shooting star.
