This cemetery is really worth seeing, in every season! Although I live near Bischofsgrün, I recently discovered it during the hike on the Panoramaweg around Bischofsgrün and was thrilled. I almost missed it: there is a cord hanging from the bell tower to ring the bell - it fits the mood there!

In the middle of the forest between tall trees and a gently murmuring brook lies the small military cemetery, which opens onto a light forest meadow as a place of stillness, peace and reflection. The honorary cemetery was laid out during the First World War for 21 soldiers who had died in the sanatorium (then used as a military hospital) in Bischofsgrün. Later, Dr. Paul Dürrbeck, the then chief physician of the sanatorium, erected a bell tower and the memorials for the dead of the three great wars since 1870.
A service is traditionally held on Whit Monday at 9 a.m. in the Bischofsgrün Cemetery of Honor.
