The Cosmos Cycle Path is a cycle path that opens up part of the Vulkaneifel on an almost slope-free route. It connects the Eifel city of Daun with Meerfeld and the largest Eifelmaar, the Meerfelder Maar. In addition to the natural landscape of the region, it offers an insight into our solar system and the cosmos. He tries to convey a sense of the gigantic distances and periods of the surrounding universe. The path is divided into two areas. Between the Kurpark Daun and the Bleckhausener mill are models of the individual planets, scaled in size and distance to the sun. Here a covered meter corresponds to 500,000 km in reality. In the second section between the bridge at the Bleckhausener mill, which leads over the Kleine Kyll, and the Meerfelder Maar, the distance traveled does not correspond to distances, but time periods. Every meter equals three million years. The time from the Big Bang to today is demonstrated. The family-friendly route is uniformly marked in both directions with the bike path logo. (Wiki)
