The ascent to the "crater rim" is tough, but the view makes up for it. From the observation tower you have a great view over Meerfeld. You can clearly see that the maar and the city of Meerfeld lie in a crater.

On the north side of the Meerfeld Maar, at the highest elevation of the crater at approximately 516 meters, stands a twelve-meter-high wooden observation tower: the Landesblick. From here, you have an outstanding view of Meerfeld, the maar, and the surrounding area. In clear weather, it's simply breathtaking.
