The Kiel-Holtenau lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Germany. It was built in 1895 during the times of Kaiser Wilhelm and is a listed building. Today you can even get married here in a civil registry office.
The lighthouse is located directly on the Tiessenkai, which attracts with its special atmosphere. In summer you can see traditional sailors, sniff the maritime air and stop in small cafes.

The foundation stone of the brick building was laid in 1887, and was carried out by Kaiser Wilhelm I. Completion was in 1895. He is with the beacon 24 m high.

The whole Tiessenkai is worth a visit. The lighthouse as a historic navigation sign is a special starting point.
