In addition to the hiking trails along many dry stone walls and along the highest vines in Ticino, the Brontallers were able to dig up a new attraction. Because Brontallo, the first village in the side valley, is a sun terrace, it is considered life-friendly. The old communal oven, which was used until the 20th century, tells the story of the tasty bread made from the sun-nourished wheat that was ground into flour in the neighboring mill by the stream.

The village of Brontallo consists of a group of old houses—the oldest dating back to the 16th century—nestled around a small village square. In the past, this square was where community assemblies were held. Brontallo's vineyards are truly astonishing. They are the highest in the canton of Ticino. Numerous dry-stone walls and pergolas, recently restored, can still be found here. Cabernet Jura and Americana grapes are grown here, but no Merlot due to the altitude. Grapes don't normally ripen at such an altitude. However, due to the strong sunlight and the rock face, which stores a lot of heat and then releases it again, vines are cultivated here, which are later pressed into the red wine Pioda Rossa.

Brontallo, the first village in Val Lavizzara, lies on a rocky terrace. The houses are, so to speak, glued to the slope and accessible via stepped paths. The stables and haystacks, on the other hand, are arranged in groups on the side of the valley opening to the west and form an architecturally unique building complex in the entire Maggia valley. The 17th century church closes the residential area to the north. To reach the opposite side of the valley, the Maggia gorge is crossed on an old bridge, the "Ponte della Merla".
