The red-washed riding house was built in 1746 by order of Friedrich Carl, Duke of Plön, and served as the focal point for all events and performances on the adjacent riding arena. After the Duke's death, the building was used, among other things, as a stable. During the imperial era, the central gable was fitted with a clock, which gives the building its current name: Uhrenhaus (Clock House).naturpark-holsteinische-schweiz.de/poi/uhrenhaus-ploen

Various buildings from different centuries are lined up around the former riding arena. The information center of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park is located in the former watch house at the head of the square. When the weather was bad, the tournaments were held in the riding arena, now called the clock house because of the clock in the gable. Source: m.holsteinischeschweiz.de
