Mountaineering
During World War I, the Dolomites were the setting for the cruel mountain war (1915 - 1918), in which not only the Austro-Hungarian, German and Italian troops faced each other, but the soldiers also fought against the mountains, winter and hunger. Today, remains of camps, positions, command barracks, trenches and accommodation still bear witness to those times. Some of them tell of ingenuity and the attempt to develop technical solutions that would ensure survival.
