Originally, the church, like the chapels in the neighboring villages of Pfronten-Weißbach and Schweingg, stood on a hill outside the village. In 1668 the church on the “Rehbichl” was torn down “because of the bad ground” and moved down to the outskirts of Rehbichel. One reason was certainly that the place of prayer was difficult to reach in winter and in rainy weather.
