The dahlia garden in Altona is a particularly beautiful destination for flower and dahlia friends. Visitors will find more than 600 different types of dahlias in the 15,000 square meter garden with a total of more than 11,000 individual plants.
The dahlia garden is a public garden and is operated by the Altona district office. In variously laid out beds, the visitor can marvel at the diverse dahlias. The dahlia garden has a large number of antique dahlias, and in the rest of the complex, the dahlia garden boasts some world premieres as well as celebrity-named dahlia species.
The dahlia garden is open from about mid-July to the first night frost at the end of October daily from 8 am until dusk.hamburg.de/altona/dahliengarten

Incredibly many colors and shapes. Also worth seeing for the layperson! Several thousand different types. But you have to consider the season. (Now at the end of March / AnfaApril) nothing blooms there. On the contrary: the garden is idle. The yolks still have to be brought back from the winter camp into the earth. Yes exactly: every year the dahlia tubers are in the
Autumn, after flowering (all !!) dug out and taken to winter storage.
