Hiking

The mountain is the namesake of the surrounding mountain group, the Schlerngruppe. He himself carries a plateau, whose early pastoral use is attested by prehistoric finds. In 1974 the Schlern was placed under protection with some adjacent areas in a nature park. In the South Tyrolean mythology he is considered the home of the Sciliar Witches.
