Römerhofgasse and Auracher Löchl, Kufstein
Römerhofgasse and Auracher Löchl
It belongs to the oldest and most beautiful part of the city and is home to one of the most famous restaurants in Kufstein, the Auracher Löchl. It was named after the old Kufstein bourgeois family called Auracher, who had lived here since the 13th century and ran a brewery. The foundation stone was laid as early as 1410 and a tunnel (the Löchl) was driven deep into the mountain to store ice. In 1448 the beer tavern was opened, which was called "Auracher Löchl".
During the great fire of 1809, almost all of Kufstein was destroyed, but the Auracher Löchl was miraculously spared.

"A very special good spirit of the Auracher Löchl was the musician and composer Karl Ganzer, who from 1946 regularly played here in the inn with his button accordion.
His world-famous Kufsteiner, which has been sung by millions of people, was written there
Song "Do you know the pearl, the pearl of Tyrol..." Ganzer's seat in the large room of the Auracher Löchl is reverently kept free to this day, and a worthy monument was set up for him in the pavement of the alley in front of the house."
