The West Wall consisted of 17,800 bunkers (!).
"The 18 preserved bunkers of the "Halberg Position" were built between 1937 and 1940 and were part of the so-called "West Wall", which was built in the course of preparations for war and stretched over a length of 630 kilometers from the Lower Rhine to the Swiss border."
