The foundation stone of this church goes back to the 14th century. In the following years there were several renovations and redesigns.
After two devastating city fires (1646 and 1703), it had to be rebuilt again.
From 2004 to 2007, it was completely restored and renovated.
The old high altar is from the year 1652 and the baptismal font stands on four Katharinengestalten which 1486 in bronze was poured. The organ is proud 311 years old.
