From here you have a beautiful view of the beautiful nature of the Volksdorfer Teichwiesen. These are one of the last well preserved "tunnel tunnels" of Hamburg, which was created by under the ice flowing melt water in the immediate vicinity of the ice edge. Unlike many other tunnel valleys, e.g. the Stellmoorer Tunneltal, the Volksdorfer Tunneltal is extremely short and therefore represents a geological feature. Today, the Volksdorfer Teichwiesen occur only as a gentle valley in appearance, since the originally much deeper mold with more than 14 m soil layers has been filled. These geological peculiarities have led to the formation of a particularly attractive site for the plant world. In June, nature lovers will be rewarded with the sight of thousands of flowering orchids.
