In the Warnemünder Alexandrinenstraße there is a well worth seeing, which refers to the "Warnminner Ümgang" (Warnemünde approach) as an important local tradition. In the past, the festively dressed citizens of Warnemünde always moved when the former fishing village opposite the city of Rostock appointed a new representative.

The fountain created by a sculptor from Warnemünde implements this tradition artistically. 19 sculptures made of bronze walk almost gracefully on the fountain and put this tradition together with the water feature in the limelight. As part of the Warnemünde Week, the "Ümgang" is also presented as a lively interaction through the town center.

19 graceful, festively dressed bronze figures walk along a watercourse here in Warnemünde. Designed as a fountain, the sculpture illustrates a tradition that has been maintained to this day - the Warnemünde approach. Known in Low German as "Nieger Ümgang", the event, which was previously celebrated every two years, goes back to the successful election of a local representative, the Wuurdholler, who represented the fishing village of Warnemünde to the city of Rostock. The fountain is the scenic detail of a living tradition. Every year since 1976, the Warnemünde Week has started on the first weekend in July with the traditional parade, at the head of which are historical figures such as Tiedingsbringer, Wuurdholler, Öllermann, Hegediener and Fischfrauen of the Warnemünde Trachtenverein, accompanied by spectators and local residents.
