This is the Memlebener monastery vineyard. Grape variety: Pinot Blanc
The monastery Memleben was first mentioned in documents in 979 and is a memorial foundation for Emperor Otto II and his wife Theophanu in memory of his father Otto the First (973) and grandfather Henry I (936), both of whom died in Memleben. When the entire Saale-Unstrut region celebrated its 1000th anniversary as a winegrowing region in 1998, it relied on a document from Emperor Otto III. In her he gave the monastery Memleben different villages, lands and vineyards.
This tradition has now been revived by the Foundation Kloster and Kaiserpfalz Memleben in the spring of 2012, by numerous small vines were set.
