Loaded with household goods, a chamber wagon once drove from Falkenberg Castle to Weißenstein Castle. It was so heavily loaded that the horses could only pull the load with great difficulty. The exhausted horses stopped near the Hakelstein. The driver could do whatever he wanted; the horses went no further and the team sank deeper and deeper into the muddy ground.
Then the driver began to curse and curse. He lashed out at the horses and yelled, "God damn me! Let all this junk turn to stone and sink if it doesn't go any further!"
The driver's blasphemous words were immediately fulfilled. One of the horses turned to stone can still be seen lying on the forest floor today. (Otto Saller, Fuchsmühl)

With a little imagination you can spot the stone horse. The stone structure can be found north of the Hackelstein.
