The Uddelermeer comes from a remnant of a pingo (Frost Hill). As the ground started to thaw at the end of the ice age, the ice of these pingos also melted. There was a bowl, so to speak, filled with water. The Uddelermeer used to be bigger than today. After 1857, a part was reclaimed. The sheep were washed in the Uddelermeer before being shaved. For years there was the possibility to swim, but this is partly because of the blue-green algae for decades no longer the case.
