From the Seealpsee to the Berggasthaus Aescher there are approx. 320 vertical meters that you have to master. The path is well developed and has safety ropes. They would not actually be necessary, but the way is a very touristy way. Many people / holiday guests take the gondola to Ebenalp and then hike through the cave to the Aescher mountain inn and then further down this mountain hiking trail to the Seealpsee. You can see many with normal sneakers and therefore the safety ropes are then attached again. Accidents also happen here and there have been fatal accidents. The path is actually easy and nowhere particularly narrow, but maybe it is precisely because you are not paying enough attention and maybe too deeply involved in the discussions.
I like the way myself very much, but personally there are definitely too many people here in the main season and if you have to walk behind tens of people during the "peak times", I don't like it at all. During the week and outside of the holiday season, this path is absolutely recommended and a visit to the Berggasthaus Aescher and also to the Seealpsee is definitely an impressive and very worthwhile experience.

From the Äscher to the Seealpsee (or vice versa) this slightly rough but actually not very difficult path leads, is a bit exposed in places (partly with holding ropes, but without fall protection), you must not stumble there, but you have to be careful, there were a lot here bad and fatal falls (sideways it goes down steeply). Used in very large numbers of tourists, often in sneakers or even sandals and without any mountain knowledge.
A normal mountain path for experienced mountaineers, sometimes a bit borderline for inexperienced and poorly equipped tourists.
In contrast to this Äscher-Seealpsee trail, the Ebenalp-Äscher trail is much easier and much better secured, and also has no problems for tourists.

I would classify the route as easily feasible for experienced hikers. But just for hikers and not for people who venture into the mountains for the first time and that with sandals or at best sneakers. We saw some of them when we entered the Seealp. They actually wanted to go up to the Waldkirchli at four in the afternoon and, as I said, in sandals and with a red face, the path to the Seealp is still flat, compared to what follows. We advised them against... 😀
