The Sophiensanatorium for consumption addicts is a former pulmonary sanatorium in Munich near Bad Berka in Thuringia. The building, idyllically located in the forest, was built in 1898 and has been empty since 1994. The Bad Berka Central Clinic emerged from the Sophienheilstätte, which still exists today.

It is the largest surviving half-timbered house in Europe. And you can really get lost in this ancient house (probably that's probably the only reason why the inside isn't accessible to the public. It's hard to imagine what would happen if someone couldn't find their way out. 😉). The old walls have an eerie and gloomy appearance and yet are fascinating and beautiful at the same time. The house is completely empty and very dilapidated. There is no longer any interior...

A very great building with an interesting history and atmosphere. Care: The site / building is monitored.

The code of honor in all Lost Places is always and in any case: do not break anything, destroy nothing, change nothing, take nothing with you. Just take pictures and let the atmosphere and history work on you.
