Hiking Highlight
Peterslay is the ultimate vantage point over the Ehrbachklamm!
And if you want a little thrill, you can climb the sloping rock nose, but please be careful and not when it is wet!

The Peterslay consists of kieselgallenschiefer, a deposit of clayey to slightly sandy sediments in the so-called "Moselle trough" in the Devonian era about 406 million years ago. The concrete shape only emerged in the Quaternary Age in the last 2 million years after the unfolding of the Rhenish Slate Mountains through weathering.

Great view over the landscape of the Hunsrück. Various benches invite you to linger ...

The Peterslay viewing rock is another highlight of the "Traumschleife Ehrbachklamm". The view of the valley and the Hunsrück heights is simply fantastic when the weather is clear.

Several outstanding rock nests such as the Waldecho vantage point, the Steinerne Hund rock formation and the steep Peterslay allow fantastic views of the castle ruins of Rauschenberg and the winding Ehrbachtal.

It is very worthwhile to "crackle" up there but the view is great. If you dare, you can also climb onto the rock slab, but be careful, there is a risk of falling and if it's wet you shouldn't do it. A warning not to let children too close to the cliff edges!
