The church was first mentioned in a document in 1213. At the end of the seventeenth century, the church underwent major repairs and an annex was added. In the church there was a double service every Sunday, as there is a Wendish and a German congregation, which together have around 2070 members, the following places being parish in Königswartha. Troops, Kamenau, Johnsdorf, Neudorf and the Prussian localities:
Wartha, Steinitz with Neusteinitz and Kolbitz, Weissig, Hermsdorf and the Balckmühle. The town hall of the municipality of Königswartha is located on the property on the left.
