The Black Diamond in Copenhagen is the latest addition to the Royal Library from 1999. It was designed by architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen and has 450 rooms and 800 doors that require keys. The facade consists of 2,500 square meters of Zimbabwean black granite (Absolute Black), cut and polished in northern Italy. The stones weigh 75 kg each. The glass walls to the reading rooms are made in Germany. They are 6 meters high, 2.40 meters wide and 16 mm thick. Each pane of glass weighs 576 kg.
